A Rosé is a Rosé is a Rosé. I think not.
Fourth of July is the East Coast’s official kick off to summer and many of us head to the beach in search of sun and time with friends and family. With all of the July 4th parties being planned, many will be seeking out the perfect wines to accompany the simple food that we love during this time of year and Rosé fits the bill in more ways than one.
We are hosting our first Rosé wine festival at The Greenporter Hotel in celebration of the superior Rose wines being made in our own great state of New York (menu here).
We continue to be amazed at how many New Yorkers peruse our wine list with bewilderment as they ask “where is the California section on your wine list?” We carry between 50 to 60 wines on the wine list in our bistro and half of them are local; none of them California. With over 50 vineyards on Long Island, we (New Yorkers) continue looking elsewhere for that which is elusive; sort of like a long distance relationship.
Californians had to get behind their own wine region to make the rest of the world stand up and take notice. So now that we have the birthdate of our nation upon us — let’s raise a glass of New York Rosé. I am not proposing the “War of the Rosés” but merely supporting my adopted great State and the wine industry around which I built my business.
So join us on Thursday, July 2nd from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to drink Rosé wines from over ten Long Island vineyards and to enjoy dinner and the company of people who celebrate Rosé wine from New York and not a “Rosé by any other name.”
