American Wines for which to be Thankful!

November 21st, 2009 · No Comments · Dinner, Fall Recipes, Wine

Being on the North Fork during Thanksgiving is a cook’s delight.  From Miloski’s Turkey Farm in Calverton (631) 727-0239 to farmstand vegetables to the selection of local wines, your table is set.

Having a selection of wine for your Thanksgiving buffet turns your dinner into a party.  Your guests will enjoy trying pairing different wines with the variety of Thanksgiving dishes.  Here are four North Fork wines for your Thanksgiving table.

If you have the opportunity to take a day trip and get away to the North Fork, visit Bedell Cellars and Corey Creek Vineyards and pick up some of these wines.  They make the perfect host(ess) gift.

Bedell Barrel

Bedell Chardonnay 2007

Aromas of ripe apple and pear along with a light citrus note. A medium to full-bodied wine great with mushrooms and stuffing $25

Bedell Gallery 2007

Five lots of Chardonnay were fermented in French oak barrels using primarily native yeasts and un-inoculated fermentations, then blended with Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc, giving this wine its complexity and rech mid-palate.  The nose is toasty and complex, with minerality, matchstick, lemon/lime tones and vanilla wafer.  Great with some light cheeses to serve your guests before dinner $48

Bedell Taste Bedell Reserve Merlot 2007

This wine has huge tannins with blackberry, coffee and graphite. The vanilla comes from the layers of integrated oak.   Perfect with dark meat and a rich gravy $48

Bedell Main Road White

A light white wine for your white meat lovers.  Also great with pumpkin dishes.  At $16 a bottle, it’s a steal.

Taste White 2007

A unique aromatic, citrusy blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Gewürztraminer and Riesling. $30  Great with roasted vegetables and green bean caserole.

Domaines CC Rose

If you buy a magnum of this Rose your host of choice will invite you to dinner for many years to come.  This Rose is anything but ordinary.  A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon creating a dark fruit nose with a crisp finish.  $18 and $30 for Magnum
This will compliment any of your savory side dishes and pair perfectly with Turkey sandwiches the next day.
